The Weekly Workout keeps your skills sharp while immersed in the love of acting. Classes are small so that each student has plenty of time to work on their scenes/sides. This intimate setting fosters a supportive community in a safe space to dive deep into the text, exploring all possibilities.
TEXT ANALYSIS FOR AUDITION
Have an audition coming up, or preparing for the future? In this workshop, we will focus on breaking down a monologue to its core elements to better understand and identify clear, playable objectives using Beth's preferred technique combining Stanislavski's Units and Objectives, Actioning, and her personal exercises.
THE ACTORS MINDFULNESS AUDITION PREP
Developed from years of being “on the other side of the table,” this class introduces tools to release anxiety, cope with adrenaline, and ground you in the present moment to fully realize your potential in the audition room. In this class we will break down the text, do moment to moment work, and do mock auditions with critique.
Meditation & the body
What do you do when you forget your lines during an audition or something distracts you out of the scene and you find yourself on auto-pilot? How can you not only recover, but thrive? How can you manage adrenaline and nerves so you are confident when you walk in the room? What can you do when you get an adjustment but are locked into your choices? How do you let go?
Listening (aka full-body awareness) is a skill to cultivate and practice. In this course, we apply mindfulness meditation and sensory awareness exercises to text so actors to stay grounded in the present moment.
This intensive class invites actors to balance the grind of auditions and business with what made you fall in love with acting in the first place. Through text analysis, character development, sensory exploration, and moment to moment work, this scene study class immerses you great works to push your boundaries, expand your perspectives, and keep you inspired.
